The AFL has today announced the schedule for the 2009 Telstra AFL Community Camps. Despite fears that the initiative may face the axe due to the current financial crisis, AFL players will continue their strong presence in the community by conducting training sessions and visits to schools, nursing homes and hospitals throughout the country.

Other activities scheduled highlight the considerable time AFL players dedicate to developing the game with NAB Auskick clinics and community football forums planned to coincide with the camps. These events will allow community level coaches, players and administrators the opportunity to rub shoulders with the game’s elite and assist with the transfer of skills and knowledge into grassroots football.

Under the current CBA each player is committed to undertaking 21 separate appearances throughout the year, outlining the commitment players have made to developing the game and giving back to the community that supports the industry.
