One hundred & twenty one newly drafted AFL players and rookies have completed day one of the annual AFL Player Induction Camp.

With all newly drafted players in attendance, the camp serves as an excellent opportunity to provide the draftees with a range of practical information and advice to help the fledgling players make the most of their AFL career.

Day one also saw the draftees taken through the range of important codes and regulations they are subject to as AFL players, including the Anti-Doping Code, Illicit Drugs Policy as well as a compelling presentation from AFL cultural diversity consultant Frank Bassini.

Frank was joined by AFL players Harry O'Brien, Bachar Houli and Setanta O'hAilpin who all spoke passionately and thoughtfully about their personal journey into the AFL.

Day two of the camp will see the players broken into groups, to be taken through a range of interactive workshops covering topics such as:

  • Respect & Responsibility
  • Alcohol & Football - Your choice
  • Gambling forum
  • Professionalism in AFL football
Widely respected AFL players Lenny Hayes and Cameron Bruce will spearhead the professionalism in AFL football forum, where the draftees will hear and speak with two of the most accomplished AFL players will offer their advice as to what it means to be a professional AFL footballer.
