Liam Jurrah NT Young Australian of the Year

Congratulations to young Melbourne player Liam Jurrah who has taken out the NT Young Australian of the Year award.

Liam, the first AFL player to be recruited from Yuendumu, which sits on the edge of the Tanami Desert in the Northern Territory, received the NT Young Australian of the Year award at a gala function held at Darwin’s Convention Centre.
 
Upon receiving his award, Liam said,
 
"I grew up playing footy - I even slept with a footy in my hands."
 
"(Me playing football) means a lot to my people back home - the Warlpiri.”
 
"You have a dream, to be an AFL player and achieve that.”
 
"It is important for my family, and I just want to thank them and my footy club."
