On Monday 8th September 2008, the Grand Hyatt Melbourne will host an important event on the AFL calendar – the Most Valuable Player Awards dinner.

These are the only player-voted awards – where players decide who amongst their peers deserve the titles of Most Valuable Player; the Most Courageous, the Best First Year Player and the Best Captain, for the season just passed.

Players know what it’s like out on the field in the heat of battle. This makes them the best judges of their peers’ performances.

The awards are held each year as a stand-alone event and are broadcast live on the Fox Sports Channel. As there is no greater honour than respect from your peers, these player awards are steadily gaining the recognition and prestige they deserve.

This players’ night is an opportunity to celebrate the 2008 AFL season.
